5 Days Uganda Safari With Gorilla Tracking Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival
On your arrival at Entebbe International Airport you will be met by your Manya Africa Tours guide who will transfer you to your accommodation. Depending on traffic this will take 15 to 40 minutes.

Overnight at The Boma (B&B)

Day 2: Depart for Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Today you have two options of reaching Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Either by car or by flight with aerolink. Please see the optional flight price in the Rates section.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is regarded as a UNESCO-Natural-World Heritage and is one of the richest biological and botanical regions in the world. With its south-west position at the edge of the western Rift-Valley, this forest covers 331 km².

Bwindi is home to around 400 wild mountain gorillas, making up nearly half of the world’s population of these gentle giants. You’ll arrive in Buhoma in the afternoon, where the adventure continues. If you’re up to it, take a stroll around the area—there’s plenty to explore. You might even find something special in one of the local art and handicraft shops.

Overnight Haven Bwindi (HB)

Day 3: Encounters with the Gorillas in Bwindi
Get up very early for your gorilla tracking and have a well-balanced breakfast in preparation for the day. After the registration at the Uganda Wildlife Authority Ranger Station and a short briefing, your incredible gorilla tracking starts. Once you’ve located the gorilla family you’ll be asked to leave all your belongings behind and slowly approach these gentle giants with only your camera in hand. The guide interprets the behaviour of the animals for you. Females and their young ones, young males and even the dominant silverback can be seen feeding, playing and interacting with each other. Rest assured, the gorillas will also be very curious to see you. You have exactly one hour with the gorillas before you return to the base station.

After the exciting encounter with the gorillas you’ll return to the village. In the afternoon, you will have the opportunity to see the Batwa, the indigenous people of the forest, dancing and showing their skills in plant interpretation and hunting.

Overnight at Haven Bwindi (FB)

Day 4: Stop at the Equator
After breakfast, start your journey back towards Entebbe International Airport. You’ll stop for a picnic lunch and a fun photo opportunity at the Equator. From here, your Manya Africa Tours guide will escort you to your accommodation in Entebbe for your last night in Uganda. After an exciting and unforgettable journey your guide will say goodbye and wish you a safe journey.

Note: It is also possible to fly back from Bwindi to Entebbe. Please see the optional flight price in the Rates section.

Overnight at The Boma (HB)

Day 5: Departure
Depending on the time of your flight home, you might have a chance to visit Entebbe’s Botanical Gardens or spend some time on the shores of Lake Victoria, home to Black and White Colobus monkeys, Hornbills and many other birds. This can be arranged by the guesthouse, who will also organise your transfer to Entebbe International Airport for your outbound flight. Please note that check-in for international flights should be done two hours prior to flight departure. The departures area of the airport has a small restaurant, several duty-free shops and a seating area.

A dayroom can be arranged for $85 on BB.
