You can choose to spend the day exploring the area on foot and bask in the breathtaking sunsets from the Sipi waterfalls. You can also take a refreshing swim in one of the pools under the waterfalls, or you can roast your own coffee and enjoy a nice cup of Arabica coffee. Our expeditions are a mix of rich encounters with Uganda’s highland people, breathtaking views, unique sights along the trails and unique places where you can enjoy the sunset, the stars and sunrise over the planes of Karamoja.
Day 5 and 6: Drive to the most beautiful National Park of Uganda – Kidepo National Park
After a leisurely breakfast we’ll continue to Kidepo National Park. The Kidepo Valley National Park, embedded in the wild border region of Uganda, is apparently the most isolated national park in northern Uganda. However, it is still considered one of the best virgin places that any animal watcher can ever visit in Uganda. This pristine national park is undoubtedly one of the best wilderness areas in Africa and is home to a few endemic animal species that cannot be found in any other Ugandan national park. Kidepo is located in the middle of a savannah landscape, right next to some mountain ranges.
The Kidepo National Park is a real gem with a huge wealth of wildlife. It is still a true undiscovered, unknown pearl of tourism in Uganda! Kidepo Valley National Park was converted into a national park in 1962 and is currently home to over 75 mammal and 470 bird species. All of this falls into a prime location for game drives, for which we will have plenty of time in the next 2 days.
2 nights at Kidepo Savannah Lodge
All meals included
Distance: 250km, 6 hours
Day 7: Break in Gulu
After breakfast, prepare to check out of the lodge and go for your last game drive in this true wilderness. Every day presents a different sight and you can expect to increase your game count. Transfer to Gulu where you can enjoy lunch (own expenditure) and spend the rest of the day relaxing
Dinner and overnight at African Roots
Breakfast and dinner included
Distance: 200km, 4 hours
Day 8: Back to Entebbe
Start the day with an early breakfast before embarking on a leisurely drive towards Kampala, enjoying a packed lunch along the way. If time permits, we can make a stop at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary (additional $50 per person). This incredible sanctuary is the only spot in Uganda where you can see rhinos, thanks to a successful reintroduction program that has bred over a dozen white rhinos.
We’ll arrive in Entebbe by late afternoon or evening, where you’ll either be transferred to the airport for your onward flight or dropped off at your hotel in Entebbe or Kampala.
